The decline in international tourism reached 70% and caused losses of 730 billion dollars
Travel restrictions imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, continue to negatively affect international tourism

The latest data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) show a 70% drop in tourism revenues in the world in the first eight months of 2020.
In particular, in July there were falls of 81% and in August by 79%, which are traditionally the busiest months of the year and the peak of the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere. The fall by August means 700 million fewer arrivals compared to the same period in 2019, and the loss of the international tourism industry 730 billion US dollars. This is more than eight times the losses caused by the global economic and financial crisis of 2009.
